Moneybird is the best-known accounting package for freelancers in the Netherlands and it has earned that position. The difference comes down to two things: how many languages the application really speaks, and what your price depends on.
Moneybird is the most popular Dutch accounting package for freelancers, that works in Dutch and English, with a price that rises with your volume: from €3 a month (Compact, 5 transactions) to €41 a month (Compleet, unlimited) on annual billing — cancel-monthly it is €4 to €49 — with a 60-day free trial. The package booxx costs €19 a month with no transaction cap and works in five languages — Dutch, English, Polish, Hungarian and Romanian — with the ledger accounts, the outgoing emails and the explanations of the VAT boxes translated as well. If you read Dutch easily and want lots of integrations, Moneybird is the safer choice; if you read neither Dutch nor English, you can't run the core of your bookkeeping there yourself. You bring your old books along as an audit file (XAF); it is imported here, ledger and open items included.
Moneybird has four packages, and the price depends on how many bank transactions you process per month: Compact costs €3 (5 transactions), Start €15 (20), Groei €29 (50) and Compleet €41 a month (unlimited) on annual billing; paid monthly, that is €4, €18, €35 and €49. All four packages are paid — what is free is the 60-day trial, during which you use Compleet. Compact does not include the electronic VAT return. The booxx package costs €19 a month, with no cap on the number of transactions.

Compare eFaktura.nlThe package booxx has two plans: Standard (€19 a month, everything included, with VAT returns and automatic bank reconciliation) and Dormant (€4 a month, read-only for a set of books that is temporarily dormant). You start with a 90-day trial of the full product, with no payment method up front; nothing is charged during that period, so there is nothing to cancel. All amounts are per set of books per month, excluding VAT, and cancellable monthly. There are no setup fees. Standard has no limits at all: unlimited invoices, entries and bank transactions, and unlimited users — colleagues and your accountant work alongside you at no extra cost.
