What is booxx?
The accounting software booxx is an online bookkeeping package for entrepreneurs in the Netherlands who would rather work in English, Polish, Hungarian or Romanian than in Dutch, and for accounting firms with such clients. The bookkeeping follows the Dutch rules and the boxes of the Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst); the screen, the names of the ledger accounts and the guidance are in the language each user picks. The publisher is Now-Next from Voorburg (KvK 72975652).

What the software does not do yet
- Filing the VAT return directly with the Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst) is not possible yet: the return is ready, filing happens outside the software.
- The automatic bank connection (PSD2) is in development. Until then you import bank statements as MT940 or CAMT files.
- Sending through Peppol is in development. The e-invoice is attached to the invoice email as a UBL file.
- There is no payroll module. You book the payroll journal from your payroll software.

Who makes the software booxx?
Now-Next from Voorburg (KvK 72975652) publishes the software. It is built for Dutch bookkeeping: Dutch rules, the boxes of the Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst), with the screen in five languages.
Can the software file the VAT return with the Dutch tax office?
Not directly yet. The return is ready with the boxes of the Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst); filing happens outside the software, in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk or through your own filing channel. Then you record in the software that it was filed.
Is there a free version?
No, there is no free plan. You start with a 90-day trial of the full product, with no payment method; after that, Standard costs €19 per set of books per month, excluding VAT.
